How to check if my scanner driver is compatible with TWAIN?

We have an application that integrates a third-party scanning component - Dynam.NET TWAIN. It works well with my HP scanjet 5700. We recently got Cannon LiDE210, but it does not work. I finally noticed that our application should work with TWAIN-compatible drivers.

How to check if the scanner driver supports TWAIN? We will send the application to other customers. I am looking for an easy way to find out if the scanners of my clients support TWAIN.

Thanks.

Inspector Twain may be what you are looking for.

There are handy tools called TWACKER ... Make sure you run it as admin. Select “File” - “Select Source” and see if your scanner is turned on. If your scanner is specified, this means that you are using the TWAIN driver, in which you can perform an additional scan with various scan settings in order to check the compatibility of TWAIN with your scanner. Otherwise, you need to find TWAIN drvier for your scanner.

You can download TWACKER at http://www.twain.org/scannerdriverdevelopers/specification-and-tools.html .

I'm sure the Canon LiDE 210 is TWAIN compatible, or rather, has a TWAIN driver. If it does not work with your Dynamsoft software, they (Dynamsoft) will be the first place to support.

But before contacting Dynamsoft, you need to make sure that you have the correct Canon TWAIN driver for your version of Windows and that it can scan from your scanner. For some reason, Canon Asia has a better page for this driver than Canon USA: http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/0100294501.html I hope I don't need to say this: you you only need to download and install drivers from the scanner vendor's website!

To make sure that the TWAIN driver works, my colleagues and I often browse with IrfanView - for free, millions of copies, and have a code that works with almost any TWAIN driver. If IrfanView cannot scan from the scanner, the TWAIN disk is either not installed or does not work - at this point you should contact the scanner supplier to support, in this case, Canon.

PS I admire the work of Irfan Skiljan, but I have no other connection with IrfanView.

PPS As you might already understand (especially if you played with Twacker or Inspector Twain), "TWAIN Compatibility" is nothing or nothing. Different scanners support different sets of TWAIN functions, and almost every TWAIN driver violates the TWAIN standard in SOME ways. But do not start with this .; -)
