Should a MTS user be a domain account on Trimion 2011 SP1?

The documents recommend that the MTS User be a domain account and install the Content Manager server software on a computer located in a Windows domain.

In an external hosting situation, where I do not have access to the domain controller, and I do not want to support email support for creating Windows accounts, etc., can I just create the MTS user as a local user on the CM server

Any mistakes?

Yes, you can create an MTSUser account on the local server. No errors or any problems. Remember to DO NOT add the user to the CMS or the impersonation user account.

There are no errors for installing one CM server, but if you have several CM servers connected to the same database, each local MTSUser must be manually added to the database with the same settings as the original MTSUser.

For anything other than the test / dev system, you need the MTSUser domain.

I don’t see the connection between the question and Thread here, but it is a great explanation of why you cannot make MTS User an impersonation user.

These answers are good, but the context of the responses is regardless of whether the user is domain or local.

If the question is that you can have MTSUser as a local account, the answer is yes.

If the question is that this is good practice, the answer is no, since it does not help in maintaining the platform, especially in the corporate environment, because there are reasons for the service, reasons for the business process.

However, in the context of the scenario in which the question is asked, and if it takes several days to make any changes at the domain level, it may make sense to use a local account, but not add the user to the CMS and add as an impersonation :)
