Is there [un] official information about SwingX-WS 1.1 and its development status?

Question

I have been looking at swingx-ws for almost a year (on the SwingX website via Google and much more [ 1 , 2 , etc.]) to make sure that version 1.1 eventually made it a milestone released (I use v1.0 , but there are some JXMapViewer errors that, according to JIRA , are addressed in version 1.1).

Am I looking at the wrong places? Is development still active?

(If you can offer a good alternative library for working with online maps in Swing, which you especially like, please)

Now that SwingX 1.6.4 is not working, SwingX-WS support is completely disabled! Boo ...: (

What a pity ... such a good and useful tool is abandoned. I end up embedding browser maps in desktop applications.
