Can I record the sound played on the sound card?

Is it even possible to remotely record sound played on a sound card? Presumably I'm playing an audio file, I need to redirect the output to disk. DirectShow or may be feasible.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

You need to turn on the loop loopback device, and you can record it using all known APIs (including DirectShow ).

After turning on, you will see the device in DirectShow applications:

Check NAudio and this stream for the WasapiLoopbackCapture class, which outputs the result from your sound card and turns it into a wavein device that you can record or something else ...
