Is the WCF service a web service?

Is it right to call a WCF service by a web service?

I'm working on schooling, and I made a RESTful WCF service, and in the report I referred to this as a web service. Is it right to refer to a WCF service as a web service?

I consider it reasonable to call this a web service. Keep in mind that you can also use WCF to create a client to interact with messaging queues, which are obviously not web services.

WCF is the foundation for creating services. It can be used to create web services, but WCF is rather agnostic regarding the main communication channel. Thus, WCF can also be used to implement (non-Web) TCP or UDP services, Windows services, and they can even be hosted in the process.

Conversely, web services can be implemented without WCF.
