Alternative for MFMessageComposeViewController

I looked and saw that MFMessageComposeViewController does not support MMS, however some suggested using a third-party provider to send MMS with photo attachments.

Does anyone know of a free provider or examples of using these mms mail gateways on iOS devices with attached photos?

I know how to send a text message using an email gateway, but not a photo.

Also, has anyone heard of a custom controller that uses these email gateways that I can integrate into my application, just like I am implementing MFMessageComposeViewController?

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to do this. IPhone does not have an open API for sending MMS. The only way to achieve this is to use the MMS providers gateway directly, but this will not work worldwide. These three other stack overflow questions regarding MMS had the same conclusion:

How can my application send MMS with photo?

Attach local image to MMS in iphone

Is MMS possible or not for the current iphone version?

To send MMS programmatically, you have four options:

  • Use a mailbox → MMS gateway (for example, 2125551234 (at) vzwpix.com) - view the full list of US mail gateways at http://www.tipb.com/2009/01/09/i ...

  • Use a GSM / GPRS / EDGE / CDMA modem to send / receive via MM1 protocol.

  • Use a message aggregator such as mBlox, OpenMarket, etc., or use a third-party gateway that can ignore connection details such as Websnapme (www.websnapme.com).

  • Use a direct connection to the carrier and use the MM7 protocol.

Option 4 is almost impossible for most people / companies, so you need to study options 1 through 3.
