After downloading an application with two Launcher components from the Marketplace, clicking "Open" will crash

Question

Create a sample application with two launch icons. For example, two components, such as:

Either install the application by downloading it from the Marketplace, or through the AppInstaller. When a message box asks you if you want to run the application, an exception is thrown:

The crash occurs because com.android.internal.app.ResolverActivity trying to find a (one) component that solves the following intent:

  <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> 

Please note that this has been tested by BOTH using AppInstaller, and the actual market on a real device.

Mike's workaround worked for me:

Please note that the alias activity tag must be declared after the activity tag you are accessing (n xml).

For the correct workaround, add this activity alias to your manifest:

 <activity-alias android:name="com.android.internal.app.ResolverActivity" android:targetActivity=".Main" android:exported="true"> 

Replace .Main with your .ClassName, which you want to run by default when the Open button is pressed in this case

I assume the problem is the two actions android.intent.action.MAIN . Both cannot be the main Activity for your task - you need to solve one.

Otherwise, if you want to have multiple launch icons, then saving the categories android.intent.category.LAUNCHER in order.
