Moving a window with the mouse and hotkey on MacOS

Is there a way to move the window with the mouse after clicking on the window (any zone) containing some key, such as the command / control / alt in MacOS X Lion ?

So the process looks like this:

  • you click on a window while holding a command
  • do not leave the mouse button, move the mouse
  • with the selected window the mouse moves

I had this option on Linux and it was very useful.

Thanks.

Based on someone who is also very used to this functionality on Linux, I also spent some time looking for a tool for this after getting the Mac. I do not think this is possible out of the box.

I am using a product called Hyperdock (9.95 USD) to facilitate this. In addition to some other functions that I don’t use (window preview, iTunes extension, etc.), It includes options for moving and resizing windows using the left mouse button + hotkey. It is not free, but it is the only tool I could find that provides this functionality.
