Static content not loaded in IE9 from IIS7

I enabled gzip compression in IIS using the configuration settings specified in this answer .

When I request a text file using Firefox, I see in Firebug that the response is gzipped:

Firebug gzip request / response headers

But when I request the same text file using IE9, the dev tools show that it did not hold together:

IE Dev tools gzip request headersIE Dev tools gzip response headers

Why is IIS not sending a compressed txt file? Am I missing some IIS settings? Is my browser incorrect?

I would compare both requests with Fiddler since IE dev tools do not display all response headers
