Putty / SSH: How to get my command line back?

I am new to Putty and SSH.

When I send the odd / wrong command, or sometimes when I use Vi, something strange happens and I cannot get the invitation back; it looks like this:

  • ctrl + c
  • ctrl + d

This should unlock the current operation.
