It's amazing that Windows 8 supports so many languages ​​for developing the Metro App. I was particularly interested in HTML5 / CSS / JavaScript. What I don’t understand is this code going to be compiled as an executable file (for example, C #, VB and C ++), or will my application work in IE as an actual web page?

Yes. Javascript runs on Windows 8 with the Chakra engine. Like the .NET compiler just in time, it translates javascript into optimized machine code. Also the approach used by Google V8 and Mozilla TraceMonkey engines. Some background information is here .
