Does modal javascript create a popup (e.g. fancybox) for seo scanners

We are testing a modal pop-up style of style (fancybox javascript) on one of our content pages, which blocks user interaction with the rest of the page without registering. I'm curious what factors this scanner has (googlebot). We know that a modal pop-up has other behavioral effects on the ranking (for example, bounce rate, etc.). I'm curious that having javascript / html modal code adversely affects search ranking.

Other answers saying that crawler robots do not run Javascript are incorrect or deprecated. The experiments proved that Google bots (2017) follow the links that are displayed using javascript, because they somehow scan sites with js enabled.

The following article is from 2015 and proves what I said.

In general, search robots do not process most JavaScript, so pop-ups of modal objects are ignored and do not affect crawlers.

  • Disable JavaScript in your browser.
  • Open your website
  • This is how Google sees it.

Assuming the popup doesn’t affect Google, as it runs exclusively using JavaScript.
