Startup error: could not connect to the remote virtual machine

Eclipse Error: "Could not connect to remote virtual machine"

I use Eclipse to plunge into Android development. Everything is going well, but lately I can no longer use debugs. When I click "Debug As" - "Android Application", the application builds normally, installs normally, but the Android device (either the actual device or the emulator does not matter) waits for "Waiting for the debugger" with one "Close" button. In the console, I get something like: -

[2011-08-26 11:59:59 - Sunrise] Start of com.sr.sunrise.Sunrise activity on device 3833CB14F52C00EC [2011-08-26 11:59:59 - Sunrise] ActivityManager: Start: Intent {act = android. intent.action.MAIN cat = [android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] cmp = com.sr.sunrise / .Sunrise} [2011-08-26 12:00:00 - Sunrise] Attempt to connect the debugger to "com.sr. sunrise "on port 8614 [2011-08-26 12:00:00 - Sunrise] Startup error: could not connect to the remote VM

I have followed many searches (including this one overflowing https://stackoverflow.com/a/3189609/) and this is overflowing.

and I tried a lot of suggestions but nothing fixed this problem.

Can someone help me, as this prevents me from creating my masterpiece ,-)

This just worked for me:

  • Close Eclipse.
  • Remove USB.
  • Go to the task manager and delete all "eclipse.exe" (in my case, I had 4-5 instances).
  • Also remove the 'adb.exe'.
  • Restart Eclipse.
  • Reconnect the USB.

Perhaps this will work for others who have the same problem.

THIS SHOULD BE MORE THAN A NUCLEAR OPTION ...

I had the same problem on my macbookpro, I donโ€™t know exactly how to fix its data loss, but on my system I have โ€œrm -r ~ / .androidโ€, recreated my devices and I can debug again.

It is important to note that it is destructive in that the .android directory is where the android emulator saves the state of the devices that I simulate.

I think the main cause of the problem was due to the old Android SDK, which I removed from my system when I downloaded the android-sdk_r15-macosx.zip file, leaving some crack in the .android directory.
