Will alphanumeric data contain _ and space?

If a field is defined as alphanumeric, are spaces and underscores (_) allowed?

Hope this is not the case.

Alphanumeric characters, by definition, contain only letters from A to Z and numbers from 0 to 9. Spaces and underscores are usually considered punctuation characters, so no, they should not be allowed.

If the field indicates "alphanumeric characters, space, and underscore," they are included. Otherwise, in most cases, you usually assume that this is not the case.
