Does anyone know the word that the built-in ord () function is shortened?

Python has a built-in ord() function, I think it should be an abbreviation. Like the other built-in function chr() , which is an abbreviation of the word "symbol". Does anyone know the word that the built-in ord() function is abbreviated for?

This is an abbreviation for "ordinal". Ordinal numbers count numbers, i.e. 1, 2, 3. ord() converts a character to its (countable) position in a character set.
