How can I organize startup configuration in Eclipse?

At Eclipse, I organized my favorite run configurations, but I have many loved ones. Therefore, I would like to know if there is a plugin that allows you to create folders or sub-lists in order to have a better overview and organization of my launch configurations.

I would like it because when I click on the "arrow" next to the "Start" button at the top of the Eclipse toolbar, I have a very long list, and this makes it difficult to quickly find the "launch configuration" that I want.

Hope someone has an idea and can help me. Thanks.

Regards, Arnaud

There are several ways to help a little:

  • If you are more interested in the latest running configurations, they get a number. Number 1 - last, number 2 - previous, etc.
  • Press ALT-SHIFT-X followed by the startup configuration type ( j for Java) and you will get a list of startup configurations. Enter in the filter field and select the arrow keys.
  • In the Run > Organize Favorites ... section, you have the option to mark some of them as ones you want to use often. They will appear at the top of the selection list.
  • Run configurations... > Filtering Preferences... will open settings in which you can determine which filter should be used for startup configurations. If you use working sets in your programming, this can be useful, therefore, by switching the working set, launch configurations come with it.

I think the keyboard shortcut is the fastest if you want to use all launch configurations. If there is a special order, then the first tip will be sufficient. If your context changes and startup configurations need to change, use working sets.

I don’t know a single plugin that does this, but in Eclipse the selected launch configuration, if you click the start button, is the last. This is what you need most of the time, as a rule. Otherwise, you can simply enter the menu where all the configurations are grouped by type and select there, which may take a couple of seconds, but maybe this is not so confusing.

I'm a little late, however this may help future readers.

Well, if you want to manage your runtime configurations, I would recommend you the Eclipse Runner .

I hope this helps.

One way to do this is to save the launch configurations as "Stored Files" in different project directories. This does not require saving or downloading manually, you simply select the "General file" on the "General" tab and install it in the project directory.

When you open or close one of these "projects" (even if this project contains nothing but launch options), it displays / hides these configurations.

Currently, I am considering the possibility of creating some "fake" projects just to keep the launch groups.
