How to use cpanminus with local CPAN :: Mini?

I created my own local copy of CPAN with minicpan and was able to reconfigure cpan to use it - Fantastic!

.. but how can I use it with cpanminus ?

This should be possible with the --mirror-only option.

For instance:

 cpanm --mirror ~/minicpan --mirror-only
