Installing VSTO Office using WiX

Question

I did an Excel add-on and tried to install it using this answer: How to use WiX to deploy VSTO 3.0 add-ons?

This does not work, and I realized that when Visual Studio deploys addins, it creates additional registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ VSTO \ SolutionMetadata. I added the appropriate keys manually to my installer, and now it works, but I believe that this is not an elegant / secure method. What am I doing wrong?

This is a known bug in VSTO (fixed in SP1).
