Are multiple Eclipse-based IDEs related to each other?

Based on the previous question where I asked about the IDE to support development in several languages , some of the answers mentioned the Eclipse and Eclipse IDEs. If I used these tools, would there be conflicts between them or could they work side by side smoothly? Can I also run different instances of Eclipse with separate plugins installed in each of them?

They can work side by side without any problems, at least in my experience. I launched CodeWarrior and Eclipse together, and now I am running Eclipse and the IBM ClearQuest Client right now.

Each Eclipse-based application is a unique application with its own settings, plugins, configuration files stored in its directory. You can install and configure them independently of each other without any problems, including plugins.

They work smoothly. You can even have different instances of classic Eclipse, and they will work side by side smoothly.

Eclipse stores all its configuration in its installation directory, so there are no conflicts and all workspace settings in the workspace directory so that you can have as many workspaces as you need.

update: And yes, you can run as many instances with individual plugins as you need. The entire plugin configuration is saved in the instance installation directory.

They can work side by side, as long as everyone has their own workspace and many projects. When you try to mix them, running multiple instances in the same source directories, everything can be very unpleasantly mistaken (especially if you try to run them simultaneously in this source tree).
