Connect Windows MTP / WPD to Android device

Question

I am developing a C ++ PC application running on Windows. The application must communicate with the android phone connected via USB using MTP. The identifier should not install a memory card. I found that Windows has what they call WPD (Windows Portable Device), which supports MTP. It looks pretty good, but it does require the installation of WMP11. What interests me:

• Are there other alternative libraries that you can use?
• Does anyone have any tips or experience using WPD?
• Are there any "more compact" dependencies that you can install instead of WMP11 for xp?

• You can use WIA, but only for images. but I did not find part of it.

Any tips?

• Check out the sample code provided by Microsoft; this is a good starting point. I found that he was looking for a sample COM API for portable devices on MSDN.
• For services, you can check this sample code . Which I found by googling for WpdServicesApiSample
• WPD api is pretty good to use.
• Not all devices support MTP, and some only support part. This caused me some problem, but the device we used released an update that supported more MTP
• I found the answer about XP problems from fooobar.com/questions/900178 / ... pcbbc is really useful. I can also add that we sent a letter to the supplier and asked to create our own .INF file for XP support, and they were really useful and provided us with it. But it took some time before we got it.
