How to set up a BlackBerry Phonegap project in Eclipse - MyApp.java to download index.html?

Question

Question: How to properly initialize a phonegap project for BlackBerry in Eclipse?

Details: I have project files added to the new Eclipse BlackBerry Project and Phonegap libraries have been added in the build path, however I cannot figure out how to connect MyApp.java to index.html to run the project as a phone / web application.

Setup: I believe that I have all the prerequisites: Java JDK / JRE, Eclipse, BlackBerry WebWorks SDK, BB WW SDK and JRE for Eclipse, phone libraries and files, and my project files. I created a new BlackBerry project and added my files to it and set up the build path.

Background: I have already developed several applications for iOS and Android, and the client asked me to develop it for BlackBerry (using phonegap / callback). I used the telephone interchange with Eclipse for Android without any problems, but I have damn time to configure it correctly for BlackBerry.

Research:. I spent the last 2 days browsing all the stacking, the phone wiki, the Blackberry forums, and google can take me everywhere, and I can’t find anything relevant or useful. BlackBerry seems to have recently changed its development tools and / or SDKs and plugins. Most tutorials that you might find useful relate to the BlackBerry Eclipse plug-in, which is no longer available (which will allow you to create BlackBerry Widget projects). I found many links to pages on the BlackBerry website that other sites and / or link to, but only 404 results. I had this with BlackBerry!

OK Finally I found a workable answer.

Now that PhoneGap (or rather “Callback,” as it is now called) has been updated to version 1.2, they finally updated their documentation. They have a guide to their wiki that has new and current information for setting up eclipse to create BlackBerry projects for PhoneGap / Callback.

(I printed a copy in PDF just in case ... For some reason, many BlackBerry-related links / manuals seem to disappear)

In addition, you can no longer create projects for telephone conversations for BlackBerry using Eclipse for BB OS 5.0+ (unless, of course, you still have the old plug-in installed in Eclipse, which was not available for installation and updating since October 18, 2011. )

• Install BlackBerry Java Plug-in 1.3.0

• BB WebWorks website: http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.6/web

• Create a project and the structure should look like this:

4. Open the config.xml file and specify the url on the index.html page on the foreground homepage

5. Build, sign and run.
