The compiler used to build Windows 7

I would like to know which compiler uses Microsoft to build Windows 7.

Where can I find more information about this?

Many thanks.

I probably should not tell you this, but I can confirm that Windows is built using the same compiler that Microsoft provides to its customers, albiet, as a rule, of the previous version (i.e. you are always the same version before Windows compiler). There is no magic "secret compiler" for Windows. I know, absolutely bored :)

Microsoft has always been good at Eating Your Own Dog Food. This concept is confirmed by the following article: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/carroll/microsoft-eat-your-own-dog-food/1870

Visual Studio is also a tool that Microsoft uses to create all of its products.

With that in mind, CL.EXE is probably located somewhere in the Windows 7 build definitions as the compiler used to build the OS.
