CSS browser processing "transparent" in gradients

Question

Although the CSS colors rgba(255,255,255,0) and rgba(0,0,0,0) are apparently the same, i.e. transparent , when viewed as simple colors, they affect intermediate colors in gradients:

 linear-gradient(left center, rgba(0,0,0,0), rgba(255,255,255,1)) 

This gives gray translucent tones between the two ends.

Now my questions are:

• Do browsers automatically select the “correct” color for transparent or is it a fixed color (most likely “black transparent” or “white transparent”)?

• Is it between browsers?

• Although the state of the color module , transparent means the same as rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) , the colors behave slightly different in CSS gradients, the Image Values ​​module indicates that the color terminates must be interpolated in the pre-multiplied RGBA color space. This means that browsers must preserve RGB colors during transitions between color stops and that there should be no translucent gray tones.

• As of the end of October 2012, only IE10 and Opera are performing this interpolation correctly, so that the gray parts are not present and that you get pure white from 0% to 100% alpha gradient. Other browsers display gray parts, which is incorrect.
