He draws from several areas of knowledge. The better you work with OOP, Design Patterns, .net 2.0 and 3.0 (Linq / Lambda / Generics / Anonymous Types / Lists / IEnumerable expressions, etc.), the easier it will be to pick up.
StackOverflow.com is always a good resource, but regular Google searches are really good. Be sure to read things written in 2010 for MVC2, and try to only read things in 2011 for MVC3 razor.
http://www.manning.com/palermo3/ is the third book to be released. Steven Sanderson's Apress book is great, and Wrox MVC 3 is also on Amazon.com.
