Saving text color when copying in windows from eclipse to gmail?

When I copy paste from eclipse / RAD to Outlook, all text colors and code formatting are saved in the same way as in the RAD 7.5 IDE. But when I copy paste the same in gmail, they leave me without colors. Is this a browser flaw or operating system? I don’t know much about how the Windows clip panel behaves? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you

The easiest way:

  • copy code from eclipse to MS word
  • copy your code from MS word to gmail

This works for me.

This is not the cleanest way, but I believe that if I copy my code from Visual Studio and paste it into MS Word, then copy it from Word and to Gmail (Chrome), it will be formatted correctly. I guess the reason is that when you paste, Word changes the format to HTML, which Chrome can handle just fine.

I am trying to do the same with Visual Studio 2010 and IE9 (both with MS), and it actually works fine. However, it does not work with any other browser. I think this is a matter of understanding between the IDE and the browser. The IDE puts the data on the clipboard with a specific formatting, and the browser is responsible for understanding it. However, if Outlook worked for you, perhaps IE8 / 9 also works. Just an idea.
