It doesn't matter to me. I like working with MyEclipse and Pulse. For me, the Eclispe JDT is still superior to what the NetBeans IDE editor offers, although I really have to say that the NetBeans development team is succeeding in catching up ...
Well, I was just reminded that we are only talking about questions and answers, so here is the answer:
!!! YES!!! you can work with Eclipse for the NetBeans platform !!! BUT!!! it will be painful. Using Maven may help, but you still lose all the wirzards available in the NetBeans IDE, eventually finding that you are writing a lot of code that could be generated for you.
