TFS auto-build control panel

I searched around and could not find the TFS build toolbar. Basic requirements: - view all assemblies (in progress, last successful, history) - test indicators (# tests, coverage ...)

Based on the java background, I'm used to solutions that give you all this (e.g., Hudson, TeamCity ...) in one package. We are trying to use what TFS offers.

I hunted for something along the cruisecontrol dashboard line and ended up finding something that satisfies about 60% of my requirement. You should take a look at the team build screen. http://teambuildscreen.codeplex.com/

At my company, we changed the source code to display assemblies in several team projects and to customize ui in terms of the displayed assembly details and layout, it is obvious that the source is available, so if it does not meet your specific needs, you can change it and save your team until you find something else to your liking.

hope this helps.

I found something much better than the build notification tool. On Codeplex, this is called Community TFS Build Manager . It works, it works fast and gives you much more information.

I think you should try the TFS "Build Notifications" :

  • This is not exactly a toolbar, but you can see the latest builds of several projects.
  • It provides a tray icon and shows the results of the assembly as they arise.
  • It is built into TFS 2010 (and is available in TFS 2008 with Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server Power Tools ).
  • When installing, you can find it here:
Start menu → All programs → Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 → Team Foundation Server Tools → Release Notifications.

Which template are you using? The CMMI template, for example, comes with a report that contains all this information. You can go to the website Sharepoint → Reports → Builds → Summary Summary and get all the information that you described, or by moving there inside the Team Explorer view. All templates offer similar reports.

Until this is a control panel view, when you first get to the Sharepoint site, you can provide someone with a link to get to the page directly that wants to see the assembly breakdown.

In addition, you can create a web part to display the information you are looking for. Although I was not looking for a dashboard view that has this information (because it is easy to create a report to provide me with this information), I would not be surprised if a third-party supplier supplies it.

I had the same problem. Finally, I had to write my own tool. Last week, I decided to remove some specific functions and publish them through codeplex. I think the first version of this add-in is more informative than some other tools that I found earlier for monitoring assemblies. By the way, it can be worth the effort. Take a look at tfsbuildinspector.codeplex.com
