VS2010 Add link to the service is missing (it is impossible to add a link to the service)

I have a problem that seems identical to this question . I cannot add a service link for any project in Visual Studio. I went so far as to format the whole computer, reinstall Windows (Windows 7 Ultimate) and VS2010 Professional. Twice. This is a working computer that I inherited, and it seems strange to me that even after formatting the disk and reinstalling everything, I can’t add a link to the services for any project on this computer.

I am 100% sure that .NET 3.5 is aimed at my project settings and even created an empty project to try it on. The same results. I'm not sure what I am missing. I am pulling the original solution from TFS (no one has this problem), so I don’t like that I am missing something in the solution.

Any thoughts?

Edit:

I just created another account (Admin also), and I can add links to services for projects under this account. Am I missing something? My original account has an apostrophe in it - will it ruin everything?

Edit 2:

Although this has been fixed, I am not happy with the solution. I will reveal the error with Microsoft later, but I'm curious to understand what caused this in the first place and how to avoid it in the future.

Edit 3:

I opened a bug report with Microsoft ( here ).

Work around:

My work, published in my error report, was to create a new Windows user account on the computer (make sure it does not have an apostrophe in the name). For some reason, this new account may add links to services, but the original still cannot.

(If someone can post a solution that allows the source account to add links to services, I will change this answer to the selected answer.)

The same thing happened to me. My original account has an apostrophe, so I created a second DevUser account, which works fine.

Finally I decided, I understand that the Extention Manager cannot connect to the Internet gallery. In addition, I could add a link to the service in my domain. In my case, it was an internet connection issue. I opened the devenv.exe.config file and found a proxy server that shows our tfs address, but I can’t believe it! How could this happen? I commented on this, and now everything seems perfect.

here is the answer Unable to connect to any online resource

<system.net> <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true"> <!--proxy bypassonlocal="True" proxyaddress="http://tfs.mycompany.com.tr:8080/tfs/productdevelopmentserverxxx"/--> </defaultProxy> <settings> <ipv6 enabled="true"/> <servicePointManager expect100Continue="false" /> </settings> </system.net>

Make sure you are not in debug mode when you try to add a link to the service! This one caught me!
