How can I make my own online video player like YouTube?

You can take a look at the source code of VideoJS . You can also use Flash instead of smaller browsers (for which VideoJS has a backup).

Or you can just use VideoJS (there’s even a YouTube skin for that). :)

An online video player can be easily developed using Adobe Flash or Flex . However, if you are targeting newer browsers, I would suggest you use the HTML5 tag. Link here and explanation here . Youtube also has a beta version of HTML5 in the format http://www.youtube.com/html5 .
