How to update a subreport in Reporting Services

Is there a way to update a subreport in Reporting Services?

When I change something in the subreport file and return to the main report, I need to delete the sub-report object and re-enable the new instance to update my preview.

Is there any way to update the sub-report object in the main report without having to delete it and turn it on again?

In fact, I think the answer is to make sure that you are viewing or rebuilding an additional report before viewing it in the parent report.
The easiest way to rearrange the subtitle is to view it in BIDS, but you can also right-click | Based on a report in Solution Explorer. Alternatively, rebuild the entire draft report if it is easier than rebuilding individual reports.

In BIDS, in the top-level report, you must have a Subreport object. This object is essentially just a pointer to another rdl in the project. This should be updated automatically. I think you see that BIDS is loading an outdated version of the subtitle. If this happens, try closing BIDS to the end and reopen the project and repeat the parent report. It must have an updated subordinate report.

All this assumes that you have a draft report in bids with stand-alone reports, rather than embedding reports in aspx pages.

I understand that this is an old post, but as it may happen, I also had this problem and landed here via google search. I'm not sure that OP uses Visual Studio 2008, like one of the commentators, but I found that while the preview in the main report does not show the updated sub-report, I can see the update by right-clicking on the main report in the solution explorer and selecting run. It does not seem to take much time, if at all, to open a separate launch window.
