How full is SVG support on mobile devices?

  • How many of the SVG specs have been presented on different mobile browsers?

  • Are there many known inconsistencies between these browsers?

  • Are there any SVG Javascript libraries designed for mobile browsers?

Most browsers will have support that at least matches SVG Tiny 1.1 and the features of SVG Tiny 1.2, which are also found in SVG Full 1.1 (yes, I know, it's a little complicated - in short: Tiny is a subset of Full, but Full 1.2 has been left behind leaving Tiny 1.2 with some features not found in Full 1.1).

Some DOM interfaces have inconsistencies in accessing external content (for example, external or fonts) and animation support. Most of the rest, as a rule, work very well.

As for libraries, it depends on what you want to do. On smartphones, I would be surprised if Raphael didn't just work. For more limited devices, there is the Ikivo Enrich infrastructure, which is not free, but works well and integrates with its IDE if you like it: http://ikivo.com/tools.html (denied: Ikivo is my client).

You can also check this scheme for support in general, it can be updated with more information about mobile: http://www.codedread.com/svg-support.php .

You should notice that the Android browser by default has SVG support, which is disabled before Android 3.

Support documentation for Opera can be found here .

As Robin wrote, Raphael should work perfectly on mobile devices. D3.js and most other js libraries that also work svg, at least the ones I tried.
