The extender cannot reside in a different UpdatePanel than the control that it extends asp.net

You use the AJAX ToolKit Extender Control to extend the functionality of one of your ASP.NET controls. You placed the Extender control in a different UpdatePanel than the one in which the extended control resides.

Extender and Extended controls must be in the same UpdatePanel to avoid this exception.

In my case, I used the button ... outside the update panel, as shown below.
