Text in iPhone app gets alias in 2x mode on ipad

Question

I have an iPhone app that uses high resolution images to make it work for both iPhone and iPad. But all the text gets aliased in 2x mode on the iPad.

Is it possible for the application to automatically change the font size in 2x mode?

OR Should I determine the device type and font size manually?

You can’t do anything about the font alias in iPad 2x mode, and you don’t know when the user enters 2x mode. It's nice that he uses larger images, but consider that a bonus.
