SMS Gateway for Windows + C #

I am a little confused by SMS and how to send them. I searched around and see that you can buy sms texts. I saw some where you get 10k text messages for $ 490, but I find it very expensive and I wonder if there is a better way that would be free.

I know that many sites use SMS reminders such as Google Calendar. I'm sure Google hosts have their own server or something like that.

I also know about small sites that charge $ 3 per month for their maintenance, and one of the functions in their service is to send you SMS alerts. I doubt very much that they pay 4 cents per text and allow unlimited reminders.

So, is there a gateway in which I can free myself? Preferably something that runs on Windows machines.

Or do these sites use, for example, email for SMS or something like that, and how do they get it for free?

I am trying to figure out how to do this for free at my end for sending. It seems to me that it’s stupid that services should pay for sending these messages. I would suggest that it would be like an email where you can send them for free.

I understand that the person receiving the SMS can pay, but it depends on their cell phone plan.

Your options:

Email-to-SMS Gateway

Arguments

  • Is free

against

  • Delivery is not as reliable as native
  • Custom message formatting between operators
  • Provide stricter spam defenders that can capture non-spam messages.
  • You need to know which media your user is using, and they must notify you if he changes

SMS gateway

Arguments

  • More reliable
  • Consistent Formatting
  • Easily handle responses
  • Virtually indistinguishable from media from text messages sent from humans
  • Most offer a simple API

against

  • The cost of money. This will not change until the carriers start charging them at both ends, and I will not hold your breath, because it is such a huge profit center for them.

Do it yourself

Arguments

  • You will learn how GSM modems and AT commands work, making you 1337 hax0r.

against

  • Complicated
  • You still have to pay carriers for the message
  • Not scalable.

I work for a gateway ( Twilio ), so I understand a lot about this issue. We often have clients who started their journey by e-mail and refused because of problems associated with this method. You can get rid of SMS emails for small volumes and important messages. If you are serious about this, sign up for a gateway. There are many of them.

One way to do this is to use email for an SMS gateway. Here you simply send short text to a special address, for example @ vzwtext.com, for the Verizon number.

A quick search showed this list: http://www.mutube.com/projects/open-email-to-sms/gateway-list/ .
