It is best to be a cloud server from Rackspace Cloud or Amazon EC2 . I ran MongoDB for both vendors, on Windows and Linux, no problem.
Around your $ 100 monthly price range, you can get a Windows window with these specifications:
- Rackspace: 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HD, 32 or 64 bit ($ 116.80 / month)
- Amazon EC2: 1.7 GB RAM, 160 GB HD, 32-bit ($ 87.60 per month).
In this price range, I will be tempted to go with Rackspace because of the 64-bit version of Windows, although you can also see EC2 Micro instances using EBS, which have a 64-bit option.
If you use MongoDB on a 32-bit system, the database size is limited to about 2 GB, so it is usually best to avoid it.
