What is a paragraph (when accessing memory)

I feel stupid when you ask something that sounds like it should be so easy to find, but as you might have guessed, finding a paragraph gives a lot of results that have nothing to do with what I want to know.

I have been studying assembly in the last few days (writing a tiny bootloader, a bit of a practice), and I have seen several references to pieces of memory called a paragraph. I have a distant memory that a paragraph is two words, but I'm really not sure. What is a paragraph and what is its meaning?

The paragraph is 16 bytes. This is relevant primarily (if not exclusively) in real x86 mode, where is the distance between the two addresses that you get when you increase / decrease the segment register by one.
