Why does Xcode 4 include file extensions and @ 2x suffixes in image lists?

In previous versions of Xcode and IB, when I specified the background image for the button, the image lists would only include file names without file extensions or @ 2x suffixes, and iOS was smart enough to know which file to use depending on whether the device had image of the retina. Now in Xcode 4, when I select an image for a button, it lists all the images in my project, including their file extensions and @ 2x suffixes. Which one am I using? If I select an image without the @ 2x suffix, will iOS use the @ 2x version on devices with retina displays?

Thank you very much for your wisdom!

Choose those that don’t have @ 2x. This seems to work great for me. Like you, I have no idea why Apple decided to start including all file names in the result list. It seems the exact opposite of the intuitive.
