Word map for emotions

I am looking for a resource similar to WordNet. However, I want to be able to find the positive / negative connotation of the word. For instance:

bribe - negative offer - positive

I am curious if anyone came across any tool like this in AI / NLP research or even linguistics.

UPDATE: For the curious, the accepted answer below put me on the right path to what I need. Wikipedia lists several different resources. I would recommend (due to the ease of use / free use for a small number of API calls) AlchemyAPI and Lymbix . I decided to go with AlchemyAPI, as people associated with academic institutions (such as myself) and nonprofits can receive even more API calls per day if they simply send an email to the company.

Here are some compilations of vocabulary related to affect, as well as affect dictionaries, such as Affective Norms of English Words (ANEW) or Dictionary of Impact in a Language (DAL). They provide a dimensional representation of the effect (valency, activation, and control) that can be used in a mood analysis scenario (detecting positive / negative connotations). In this sense, EmoLib works with the first one, by default, but can be easily expanded with a more specific lexicon to solve specific needs (for example, EmoLib provides an additional neutral label that is more suitable than a set of positive / negative tags set separately in the setting text-to-speech synthesis).

There is also SentiWordNet , which provides positive, negative, and objective ratings for each WordNet syntax.

However, you should be aware that the positive and negative connotations of a term often depend on the context in which it is used. A great acquaintance with this topic is the book "Analysis of Opinions and Sentiments" by Bo Pang and Lilian Lee , which is available online for free.
