How can I test the iPad app on my actual iPad?

I am developing my first iPad application using the iOS SDK 4 and Xcode 3.2. I wrote a simple Hello World and was able to run it in an iPhone simulator. I would like to find out:

  • How can I get an iPad simulator?
  • Is it possible to test my application on my real iPad without signing up for a developer license for $ 99?

Thanks,

Mike

There is an iPad simulator in the SDK. I donโ€™t have my Mac in front of me, but you should be able to choose which device to configure when starting the simulator. You can also switch between the iPhone and iPad modes in the simulator - check the "Hardware" menu.

Yes, you must have a paid developer membership to deploy code on your device. This is the only official way.

There are unreasonable ways to get your application on your device, you need to jailbreak and install software called AppSync from cydia. This will void your warranty if Apple finds out (restoring the device with its original settings using the restore button in itunes means that they cannot say so jus trestore before you go to the Apple store), and if they find out, it may cause it damages you as a developer (but the chances are very thin) (I have no problems with specific details, since the US government stated that jailbreaking is legal) http://www.pcworld.com/article/201892/us_government_iphone_jailbreaking_is_fair_use.html

If you have jailbroken, install the application from the Hackulo.us repository. Just sync your app in iTunes without signing it. It will be easy to work like a Pi!

This is another way to save flash memory from iPads, if you can put your device on the device without going through an apple, then you can also put someone else's. I think this should be allowed, but if something does not work on software that is not officially released, it should not be supported by Apple.
