Kohana 3 routing fails under certain circumstances

I have a very nasty problem with Kohana 3 routes and / or something else that causes my routes to fail.

The specified route is defined as:

  • This route works fine in almost all cases.
  • specific case that causes me problems: / calendar / save
  • accessing a route / calendar / save directly from a tab in Safari or IE always works (e.g. https://my.site.com/calendar/save )
  • accessing traffic / calendar / saving directly from a tab in Firefox sometimes works (e.g. https://my.site.com/calendar/save )
  • access to the route / calendar / save from AJAX in any browser always fails , and the page ends up hitting my route on the entire route and goes to page 404, shown below
  • access to another action for the same controller, and the route always works (even through AJAX) (for example, https://my.site.com/calendar/edit works fine directly or through AJAX to all browsers)

Catch-all route:

There are no errors in my apache logs, since everything works on apache and php.
