My website registration page was crammed with spam bots to the smallest detail of 1 attempt to fake registration per day (crammed compared to my total traffic!).
Since registration is triggered when sending confirmation letters, I would like to block this if possible.
I went ahead and implemented a hidden form input screen (address, phone, etc.), and now my site is automatically redirected to spambot.php if the "sensors" work.
This works great ...
but I'm curious how after effects. I have my own javascript Google Analytics on the spambot.php page, but it only registered 1 page in the last month. Meanwhile, my AWStats host has 19 page views - which would seem correct when looking at a past story.
What makes me wonder if spam bots ignore javascript at all?
