Android Background Image Resolution

I am currently defining a background for an Android application, I want to know what resolutions should be provided for low, medium and high density screens?

I can’t make a decision because the documentation seems to relate to density, which depends on the resolution and physical size of the screen, while I really want the image to be scaled as small as possible to minimize trace footprint.

Many thanks

It depends on many different things. But for small applications, I would just skip hdpi, mdpi and ldpi and put it all in / drawable Put high resolution images and phones with lower density will reduce them.
