Offline Reverse Geocoding at Country Level

Question

There seems to be a lot about this, but everyone seems to need street level data.

I am writing an iOS application that should receive an international phone code (outgoing) for the country in which you are located, so I only need the country. Since it will mainly be used abroad, the online solution will not really work!

Finding a whist I discovered the fantastic openstreetmap.org, but their export feature only seems to provide street level - and it won’t do the whole world at a time!

Once I have the data, I may also need help with the algorithms .... but this is for later !:-)
