Search for the most common patterns in a text file without a language

Question

I am not entirely sure that this answer belongs here, but I am looking to find patterns in ascii file.

The file itself consists of alphanumeric characters, and I just want to check for patterns to repeat in the file, not counting the delimiters and ignoring the words or the meaning of the natural language, just get the most frequently repeated sequences.

It seems that I have not found any program already developed that can do just that (since everyone seems to work with words, not just character sets). Are you aware of any application that can do this?

If there is no such application, how would you recommend that I am suitable for coding?
