I want to introduce a Facebook-like “likes” system in which my members can click a button (or dislike it) and it rates the message up or down. The vote count should be visible.
My first (and only) thought about this is to create a new “likes” table in my MySQL database. But when I look back at sites like Facebook and YouTube, which have billions of likes for all their videos, it seems like resource-intensiveness has a table that can hold so many posts.
Table structure will be
id, post, value, user
Are there any alternatives to using a MySQL table for “likes”?
