Choosing an Open Source License for an XSD Based Standard

There was a question about the open source project that I plan to create (for placement in Codeplex or Sourceforge).

In short, the project will consist of an XSD file to define the schema for the XML files to be followed, and some C # code to work with these XML files.

But I'm not sure which license I should provide, especially the XSD file. The project will be mainly a class library, so I am tempted to go with the LGPL, so it can be used with both free and proprietary software.

But one thing, I donโ€™t want the XSD file to be changed, because I'm trying to set a standard for sharing data in a specific problem domain, and imo it makes no sense to create a standard open source or it?

Or should I let XSD go as a separate project? Not sure which way is right ...

Thanks for any advice on this.

I think you are making a big mistake. In fact, I think XSD files should be released under a more liberal license.
