From here :

It is called “SAMO” because Dr. David Ungar received the title of many many nerds to lecturers and are tired of writing his name in his name icon and simply wrote “I” instead. SELF is a good name because it automatically accepts the default call; automatic inheritance by default.

Yes, Dogbein is right. And it's really hard to call Google, so I use "self language" in quotation marks.
