Xp document printed from wpf - too short, weird paper size?

I am testing printing capabilities of wpf applications by simply printing an xps file. Strictly, although the paper size settings are correct for the system, it seems to cut my 8.5x11 paper to some odd side, almost approaching a square rather than a rectangle. This is bad for the layout of my report. The same report printed in PDF seems to work fine, and also prints to a physical printer.

Any weird XPS errors or something I should pay attention to?

Do you use any layout transforms? I had similar problems when using transforms and needed to be cleaned before printing, and then reset them.
