Create a phone answering application and delegate on iPhone Phone Application

We want to create an application with which the user can interact during a phone call. The idea is that the user can make voice calls using the iPhone phone application and at the same time use our application to enter and send additional data related to the call, such as an email address. This is the scenario:

  • User receives a call on iPhone
  • The user presses a button in our application to answer the call, and let the phone application on the iPhone handle the phone call in the background.
  • Our application continues to work in the foreground so that the user can interact with our application to enter and send data, such as an email address that is relevant to the call.

Is there a way for our application to answer an incoming phone call and let the iPhone phone application handle the call in the background while our application continues to work in the foreground?

The iOS SDK does not currently support forwarding incoming calls from the system to the user application. There is only support for initiating a call.
