How do you create an XML parser?

Can someone direct me to a good tutorial on creating an XML parser? I understand that most languages already have libraries for this task, but I’m interested in learning about XML grammar and the theory behind parsers. I tried looking for something that explains this, but could not find anything.

I think that there is not enough demand for people to write such lessons; and, as I commented, I don’t think that general parser methods really help. XML parsers are not the usual lex + yacc approach too well (part of the lexer is larger than the parser, for what it's worth).
